A ‘Smoking Sunday’ at Valencia
The first ‘Smoking Sunday’ is over. The Valencia Brand Cup Races
have finished and the Semi-Finalists are finally revealed.
The best 80 drivers spread over the four brands were invited to
compete in the final online stage of the competition for the
Valencia Semi-Finals: The Brand Cup Races. The pressure grew as the
event neared and amongst the invited driver some dared not enter the
track to face their competition. The majority showed up nonetheless
and met their challenge on the tarmac. It was to become a stunningly
close competition.
Armed with skill and the will to win, the drivers engaged in close
combat. And close it was! Reputations did not suffice to grab
victory that day in V-WTCC. In The BMW Cup, which featured a roster
with renowned names, an underdog drove away with the win and in none
of the Cups the winner of the one race managed to win other. The
Cups of the front wheel driven cars often featured door-to-door
racing and no effort were spared to score more points. It even got a
little dirty sometimes, but the races were generally of a high level
and featured clean racing.
Our compliments to all drivers for delivering a quality job on track
and congratulations to the sixteen Semi-Finalists who really had to
go on the edge to make it.
