Showdown at BRNO!
On Sunday
the first of June the second edition of the Brand Cup Races were held.
The top shots of the V-WTCC Ranking competition and the qualifiers of
the Demo Race met in Brno to determine who would represent their car
brand in the onsite Semi-Final of Brno.
The lap times put forward in the V-WTCC had been seriously impressive
and therefore the Brand Cup Races promised to be quite spectacular.
The promise was kept. Like in the previous edition of the races, at
Valencia, the field was a mix of new names and renown drivers and they
made a stunning show out of it.
In the BMW event Danny Engels won the first race, but disconnected in
the second, leaving the door open for Nils Naujoks, the number two of
race one, to win the race and the BMW Brand Cup event.
The Chevrolet Cup turned out to be a battle between Douglas Lundberg and Gabor Szelezcki,
who both won a race. Douglas got away with the overall win by taking second place
in the race Szelezki won.
The battle between the Hondas proved to be even tighter as none of the drivers
managed to dominate the field. The top four all scored quite well in the overall
results, but in the end it was Tamas Bajka who claimed the win with a first and
third place. The Seat Cup surprisingly became a prey for Viktor Szabo, who had
qualified himself through the Demo Race. He won the first race and worked his
way up to second position in the second race.
Next stop is the Brno Semi-Final held on the 14th of June. With plenty of top
shots on the roster, V-WTCC is up for another exciting onsite event. Stay tuned for more news!
