Day of the Demo Drivers!

Sunday the first of June would turn out to be the ’Day of the Demo Drivers’. In the Brand Cup Races, held that day on Brno, two of the Demo drivers sprang from the surface with an outstanding performance. These drivers had only been owners of the ‘RACE 07 – The Official WTCC Game’ for one day and managed to compete with the best right away.

The winner of Thursday’s Yokohama Independents’ Trophy Demo Race, Vincent Staal, took on qualified BMW drivers in the BMW Brand Cup Race and managed to score points right in the first race. In race two he managed to hold on to a top 3 position for almost the entire race and was thereby driving on Semi-Final course. Unfortunately bad luck struck him in the last corner where his chances were blown by a spin.

The success story of the day was named Viktor Szabo, the number three of the Demo Race. Not only did he qualify for the Brno Semi-Final through the Seat Brand Cup Race, he also dominated the scene there. In race one the rest of the field could only watch how he got away from them and scored the win and in race two he managed to climb up from eight’ position to second. Scoring eighteen of the maximum twenty points he is amongst the most successful Brand Cup Drivers of the season so far.

For those who thought that walking the ‘long path’ into the Semi-Finals was neigh impossible, this event has proven the opposite. The most cost-efficient path to the onsite events is a path of possibilities.
