First Winners in the Demo Race

The V-WTCC has its first winners! In the Yokohama Independents’ Trophy Demo Race, held on May 1st, Ernesto De Angelis took the chequered flag before Balaszryche and MJanosh after having led all 8 laps on the Swedish track of Anderstorp.

The race started off with a full field of eager drivers, knowing that a top eight finish would win them a copy of “RACE 07 – The Official WTCC Game” and the opportunity to race in the V-WTCC Brand Cup Races. It was precisely around that eighth spot where the heat was on.

The top three took off quickly and were not seen again until they reached the finish. These guys drove a steady race and managed to stay out of trouble and secure their podium. Behind them drivers were constantly fighting each other for a place in the ‘safe zone’ and that lead to some spectacular racing action. The places four to ten were occupied by different drivers each lap. Some got too eager and spun; others carefully awaited the opportune moment and slowly got into the top eight.

In the end some win and some lose. Congratulations to Ernesto for his race win and to the top eight for having qualified for the V-WTCC Brand Cup Races. Let’s see how they fare Sunday the 4th of May.
